Shanvi Reading Room exists for one kind of person: the student who knows exactly what they need to do, and just needs a quiet place to do it.
Our story
It started with a simple need
Students preparing for Loksewa, entrance exams and university finals need long, unbroken hours. Most of them have nowhere to spend those hours. Shanvi Reading Room began in Kirtipur to give them that place.
A cabin, not a table
Instead of long shared tables, every seat is a private cabin with walls on three sides, its own lamp and its own socket. You sit down, and the rest of the room disappears.
Grown by students
As more students came, Shanvi opened more halls: two in Kirtipur, at Panga and Tyanglaphat, and one at Babar Mahal in the heart of Kathmandu. Each keeps the same hours and the same house rules.
What we hold to
Every rule in the hall comes back to one of these.
Silence is shared
Everyone in the hall is protecting everyone else’s concentration. Phones stay silent, calls go outside.
Respect, always
Staff correct quietly and kindly. Every student is treated the same, whatever they are preparing for.
Fair, simple prices
Try a day before you commit, pay only for the days you need, and pause when life gets in the way.
Safe until close
CCTV and staffed reception from opening until the last student leaves at night.
